Here I am in one of my favorite parts of Italy: The Umbria Hills - Summer 2001

Salve!

Sono l'insegnante d'italiano.

Background

My name is Antonella Lugli Wemple but my students call me "Signora Antonella". I am Italian and I come from the town of Carpi (Modena) in Northern Italy. I have been living and teaching Italian in the Bay Area since 1986. I graduated from UC Berkeley with a major in Anthropology and a minor in Italian Literature. I hold a California Teaching Credential from SFSU and I am currently working on a Masters Degree in Italian at SFSU. I have been teaching Italian at Burlingame High School since 1997 and I am currently co-chair of the Foreign Language Department at BHS.

Teaching Philosophy

I absolutely love sharing my native language and culture with students. I feel everybody is capable of succeeding in my classes and learning Italian. My absolute priority is to reach every student and in order to do so I use a variety of strategies to address the diverse learning styles. I strongly believe in the communicative approach to learning languages and my curriculum is developed according to the Standards for World Languages teaching.
