Course Description:  A beginning dance class introduces students to the world of performing arts through movement. Students learn basic dance techniques common to all areas of dance including jazz, modern, character, and ballet.Students develop a dance vocabulary and technical skills which may be applied to composition and performance.

Major Projects/Assignments:  Students will use improvisation, problem-solving techniques, creative thinking, and exploration in the development of original dance compositions. Students will understand that through movement, dance is a form of communication derived from the uniqueness of individual expression. Students will through performance, demonstrate examples of original movement patterns and dance compositions.

Approximate homework assigned daily:  Most assignments completed in class; not a great deal of homework.
