School Counseling
Welcome
WELCOME TO THE COUNSELING DEPARTMENT!
We offer our a variety of resources to support the academic, behavioral, social and emotional growth of all students at Burlingame High School.
Our School Counselors work with a group of students (organized by alphabet) for the duration of their time at BHS. These counselors serve as the primary contact for the majority of our students and parents, and assist with the course selection process, college applications, graduation support, and so much more. Our School Counselors also serve as the main contact point for student access to our Wellness Counselors.
The College and Career Center serves as a primary contact location for students looking for information on a variety of colleges, scholarship opportunities, volunteerism, internships, and job shadows. Students can also get work permits in the College and Career Center.
The Wellness Counseling Program at Burlingame High School began in the Fall of 2016 and follows a School-Based Mental Health model. We have three full-time Wellness Counselors and share a Wellness Coordinator with one other school, allowing our students in our General and Special Education programs with a variety of supports, including drop-in sessions, 1:1 sessions, and group sessions, depending on the student needs. We follow a short-term school-based mental heath model, which allows for brief interventions; students requiring long-term care will be referred to outside services when possible.
